Ottawa Art Gallery Inaugural Exhibition

Àdisòkàmagan
Nous connaître un peu nous-mêmes
We’ll all become stories

The Ottawa Art Gallery’s (OAG’s) inaugural exhibition surveyed centuries of art in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. Located at the confluence of three rivers, the region has long been a site of cultural interaction and exchange. This sense of coming together is captured in the exhibition’s combined Anishnābemowin (Algonquin), French and English titles, which speak of the Anishnābe concept of Àdisòkàmagan – every object tells a story.

Domino worked closely with the OAG curatorial team to select wallpapers, paint colours and fonts for the exhibition spaces, and to create salon wall maps. We created a series of four brochures and presented them in a custom-made folder designed as a take-away souvenir. Promotional assets included media storylines, posters, print and digital advertisements, banners, bus boards and a video. Over 200,000 patrons visited the OAG in the first six months after its official opening.

Honours | Awards: Finalist, brochure design, Ontario Association of Art Galleries awards

Domino selected the wallpapers and paint colours for the exhibition spaces.

The works of art in this exhibition were presented along four thematic lines: bridging, bodies, mapping and technologies. A brochure was designed for each theme and presented in a souvenir folder. The brochures and folder were finalists in the Ontario Association of Art Galleries awards.
